Tennessee Cup Finalist - Crush Arsenal

Over Labor Day weekend Crush '99 Arsenal took finalist honors in the u-15/16 bracket at the Tennessee Cup in Murfreesboro, TN.  With only 12 players available for the weekend tournament, Arsenal went 3-0-0 in pool play beating TUSC '99 4-0, UCUSC 4-2, and Clarksville '98 Royals 1-0.  In the final tired legs were evident, but the young men battled for 80 minutes dropping the game 0-1 to a year older team from Tennessee United.  "It was a great tournament for the boys and we found out a lot about our team over the weekend" says Coach Scott Muir. Four games in 40 hours is hard for any team, but with only one sub on the bench the entire weekend the Arsenal players had to play intelligent soccer just to survive the 90 degree weather.  "We broke the games down into 20 minute segments and changed our style drastically to give us an opportunity to finish games with either the lead or if we had to come from behind.  By the end of the weekend the boys had nothing left in the tank, but we still found a way to compete on the field.  That was all I could ask and I could not be more proud of their accomplishment.  They have been working hard this past month and this was a great way to finish August and begin September."  Next up for the Arsenal will be their league games during September and October in hopes of making it to the TN state finals in November.
