Crush Santos Finalist at St. Francis Sports Medicine Classic

Crush '97 Santos were finalist at the St. Francis Sports Medicine CESA Classic this past weekend.  On their way to the finals Santos won 5-0 over CESA Anderson and 1-0 of CESA Select Black.  On Sunday morning Santos came back from an own goal to earn a 1-1 tie with NASA.  The final turned out to be a great game even though both teams were playing their fourth game in under 30 hours.  Opportunities were far and few between as both teams stuggled to create quality chances in the final third.  Mid way through the second half Athens United '97 Gold managed to slip one in on a counter attack.  Coach Scott Muir quoted, "It is great to see how far these young men have come in such a short time.  If we can continue to play simple soccer and tough defense, we may just have an opportunity to do some great things.  They have shown great character over the past month and will need to continue that if they want to advance to the state tournament."

Over the next four weeks Santos will be competing for a spot in the Division One State tournament held in Murfreesboro November 9-11.  On their way to the state tournament Santos will face teams from Memphis to Johnson City.
